Roadside. Wet areas. Rooted in very wet, mossy areas by road.
Very similar to CFW-1279. (Plants to 30 cm tall, rhizomatous. Leaves terete, hollow, septate, > 8 cm long. Heads terminal, ~solitary; consisting of 3-4 bracteate clusters. Bracts dark reddish-brown. Head and flowers v. immature - not completely expanded. Lowest bract of head exceeds head by 2X).
