West-facing slope of loose gravel-sized scree and soil derived from volcanic rock, probably between acidic and intermediate composition. An odd assemblage of species nearby, one of which (Physaria scrotiformis) had only previously been documented on limestone-derived soils, suggests that perhaps the soils of this site are calcium rich.
