Habitat:
Open habitat of mixed montane chaparral at edge of coniferous forest. Slope ca. 30 degrees; soil decomposed granite; south orientation, in full sun. Associated plants: Ceanothus oliganthus, Penstemon centranthifolius, Prunus virginiana.
Notes:
Perennial cespitose grass to 20cm tall. Leaves red to green. Glumes red to pink.
