Habitat: In arid desert, its presence unrelated to agriculture; doubtless native.
Description: Some plants evidently persistent (?), e.g. sending up axillary shoots from basal leaves, the root of these thickened and semi-ligneous. Flowers yellow on one plant distinctly bronze; filaments deep red; mostly in bud, fl. and early imm. fr.
