Habitat: In open places in the forest in damp granite soil.
Notes: The principal tree is Abie magnifica. Pinus murrayana abounds in low places about meadows, with an occasional P. jeffreyi on exposed ridges. Common undershrubs are Ceanothus and Castanopsis.
