Habitat: A large open rocky wash bottom. A few scattered individuals on rocky/gravely bench of drainage.
Associated Species: scattered pinyon pines and with Yucca brevifolia, Y. schidigera, Quercus cornelius-mulleri, Ericameria linearifolia, Ephedra, Coleogyne ramosissima, Krameria, Baccharis sergiloides, Sphaeralcea ambigua, Opuntia basilaris, Echinocereus engelmanii, etc.
