Prairie fen with sedge meadow zone common throughout, wooded fen with many tamaracks (Larix laricina); lots of Frangula alnus. Very long, narrow fen. Split by the headwaters of the Grand River. East side owned by The Nature Conservancy, west side mostly privately owned. Grand River is too deep/silty to cross without use of footbridges. Many zones in fen. Periodic shurbby zones; invasives; Phalaris arundinacea common. Sedge meadow opening with heavy shrub encroachment area; shrubs include Toxicodendron vernix, Cornus sericea, Frangula alnus. Carex stricta and Lythrum salicaria dominate herbaceous later, other species in are include Solidago altissima, Eupatorium perfoliatum, Dasiphora fruticosa, Thelypteris palustris, Symphyotrichum firmum. Ground wet but no inundated.
