Habitat: In grassland with scattered shrub mottes, on shallow stony clay soils on level karstic ridgetop underlain by Salmon Peak Limestone, formerly heavily grazed area. Herbaceous associates included Allium drummondii, Ammoselinum popei, Aphanostephus ramosissimus, Aristida purpurea sensu lato, Bromus catharticus, Centaurea melitensis, Convolvulus equitans, Digitaria cognata, Dyssodia pentachaeta, Erioneuron pilosum, Evax verna, Gaillardia cf. pulchella, Galium virgatum, Hedeoma drummondii, Hymenoxys odorata, Jatropha dioica, Lepidium sp., Lindheimera texana, Lupinus texensis, Mentzelia oligosperma, Nassella leucotricha, Parietaria pensylvanica, Parthenium sp., Phyllanthus polygonoides, Plantago helleri, Pleuraphis mutica, Quincula lobata, Ratibida columnifera, Sclerocactus brevihamatus ssp. brevihamatus, Scutellaria drummondii, Senna lindheimeriana, Sida abutifolia, Solanum rostratum, Spermolepis inermis, Triodanis coloradoensis, Trisetum interruptum, Verbena canescens, Wedelia hispida. Stoloniferous. Common.
Reproductive Condition: flowering + fruiting=mid
