Habitat: In grassland dotted with alligator juniper and pinyon pine, on gentle canyon slope derived from rhyolite. Associates include Aristida ternipes, Astragalus mollissimus, Bothriochloa alta, Bouteloua curtipendula, B. gracilis, Cyperus fendlerianus, Desmanthus sp., Krameria lanceolata, Lycurus setosus, Panicum hallii, Schizachyrium sp. Occasional.
Reproductive Condition: flowering + fruiting=mid
