Locality: United States, Texas, Hidalgo, S of a bend in entrance road, ca. 2.1-2.2 airmiles SE of jct. of US Rt. 83 and F. M. 886 South at Sullivan city. Lower Rio Grande Valley National Wildlife Refuge, Sam Fordyce South Tract. Los Ebanos Quadrangle. Elev. 120 ft.
Habitat: Shrub 6-8 ft. tall. common in deep, somewhat poorly drained, calcareous clay (Grulla Series, Vertic Fluvaquents) in Holocene river deposits in bed of normally dry resaca.Associates include Celtis laevigata, Cephalanthus slicifolius, Leucaena leucocephala, Lycium carolinianum, Mimosa pigra, Parkinsonia aculeata, Prosopis glandulosa, Salix cf. interior, Solanum triquetrum, Tamarix sp., Ulmus crassifolia, Cardiospermum halicacabum, Cissus incisa, Clematis drummondii, Cocculus diversifolius, Ipomaea amnicola, Sarcostemma cynanchoides, Serjania brachycarpa, Panicum obtusum, Paspalum lividum, Typha domingensis.
Reproductive Condition: fruiting=late
