Habitat: In dry meadow elevated slightly above surroundings; common associates include Artemisia frigida, Potentilla hippiana, Picradenia richardsonii, Castilleja integra, Chondrosum gracile; Gutierrezia sarothrae, Geranium caespitosum, Besseya plantaginea, Paronychia sessiliflora; single stemmed plant from taprooted rosette; plant loosely matted; flowers bright yellow; uncommon.
