Locality: United States, Arizona, Pima County, Santa Rita Mountains, Southwest of Rosemont: 0.25 to 0.3 road-mile west of the Rosemont Road, on Forest Service Road 4053. [NOTE: Road 4053 is not labeled on my Forest Service map, but signed on the ground; it branches steeply downhill on a shaded, brushy north slope from the highest point on the Rosemont road. The junction is readily identifiable on the Soil Conservation Service maps: 1.1 air-mile north of the junction between the Box Canyon road (USFS Rd. 62) and the Rosemont road]

Elevation: 1658-1676 meters Verbatim Elevation: 5440 - 5500 ft.
Habitat: Heavily shaded N-facing slope of a steep short, mainly limestone canyon (the head of Wasp Canyon), along foot of a north-facing road-cut
Substrate: Soils mapped as ''TrF'' by the soil conservation service; = Tortugas Soils and rock outcrop, 25 to 60% slopes [like a large proportion of the Huachucas Mts., visible in the distance]. All soils so mapped, in this area, seem to support Tridens muticus (in contrast with most of the surroundings); some of the included rocks are grey limestone
Associated Species: Cheilanthes eatonii, pinyon, Juniperus aff. Monosperma, Garrya,, Ceanothus greggii, Rhus trilobata, Rhus choriophylla, Tridens muticus, Piptochaetium fimbriatum, tall perennial Aristida , Bouteloua curtipendula, stunted/dwarf Muhlenbergia emersleyi, few and local Muhlenbergia pauciflora, very few Muhlenbergia longiligula, Mortonia is across the road in the sunlight, no cacti
Description: Very localized and rather inconspicuous, about 30 plants (basal diameters about 1 to 10 cm)
