Highly disturbed, bare shale soil area of flow and smaller slump islands and aspen stands along edge of flow. In permanent plot #7.
Plant from a short, knotty rhizome, erect. Leaf and culm bases sometime purple. Inflorescence a panicle with 2+ branches/node and 5-6 spikelets/br. 1 flower/spikelet. Glumes ~papery, 3-nerved, >lemma. Lemma silvery-hairy, 1?-nerved. Lemma long-awned from shallowly notched, hairy apex. Awn twested, ~geniculate, minutely scabrous. Leaves involute, very narrow, <2mm when flattened. Plants appear thin, wiry. In permanent plot #7 and widespread in flow. Called Elymus? in field notes.
