Roadside passing through open edge of oak woodland, at gentle, N-facing base of knoll; dry, very sandy soil (Boone Fine Sand; surface layer and subsoil are loose fine sand). Assoc. Ambrosia psilostachya, Asclepias syriaca, Crepis tectorum, Lespedeza capitata, Poa pratensis, little else. The Festuca did not appear to have been planted although it was seen being used as a cover crop on roadsides elsewhere on the fort.
