Rocky, tundra site near head of Long Valley, below saddle.
Abundant Dryas octapetala and dwarf Salix, with much bare, red sandy soil and gravel. Turf of tightly bunched sedges.
Spikes solitary, terminal. All flowers same, perfect? Style branches = 3. No distinct tubercle at base of style. Leaves very thin, round, wiry, no distinct blades. Growing in dense clumps from old leaf bases (and rhizomes?). Immature fruits.
