Small tree. Past anthesis. Samaras pale green. Lfts. dullish green with little gloss above; whitish-blue-pubescent beneath, where the midribs were a still paler whitish-green color. Lfts. tened to be troughlike, with margins more or less upcurled and undulate. Petioles with some dull reddish on sides most exposed to light, otherwise pale green. Bark smooth dull reddish brown, with deciduous, papery outer layers. Shredding bark, more obvious below, occurred on all branches except the smallest. Terminal branchlets light grayish purple, shading to a darker, dull purple in subterminal areas; this in turn gave way to dull brownish red on larger limbs. Signle-trunked but with several branches arising only one ft above ground. A few branches were cheifly horizontal but most were weakly to strongly ascending. About 8 ft tall and 12 ft wide (Native to China)
