perennial, rhizomatous; stems arising from a woody caudex, herbaceous, green, glabrous, striate, to ca. 20 cm long x 1.5 mm dia.; lvs alternate, odd pinnate, originating from caudex or branched stem, ca. 10 cm long; leaflets opposite, circular, green, glabrous, thin, margins serrate, apex rounded to emarginate, proximal leaflets ca. 3-4 mm dia., becoming to ca. 10 mm dia. distally; petioles ca. 0.5 mm long; inflorescence terminal glomerule, spherical, ca. 1 cm dia.; fls perfect; stamens 10 +, anthers llight yellow, filaments wiry, entangled, long, purple; sepals 4, green, reflexed at anthesis, margins hyaline, in opposite pairs, each ca. 2.5 mm long x 1.5 mm wide; style bifid, short; stigma with light red brushy hairs; ovary superior.
