Open meadow with rocky, broken shale substrate. A wet seep with willows at upper edge. Growing in shallow gravel at top of slope.
Flowers light purple, sepals narrow and dark purple. Leaves long, petiolate, elliptic, with no basal lobes; silvery-pubescent. Few flowering, mostly in fruit. Common.
