Habitat: Mountainous pine/oak woodland.
Substrate: Stony soil.
Associated Species: Juniperus deppeana, Juglans major, Cylindropuntia spinosior, Quercus emoryi.
Description: 3 - 5 dm erect annual herb.
Notes: E capitatum and E. asperum appear to be very similar. The former has yellow to coppery flowers, while the latter has yellow flowers, other characteristics seem to overlap considerably. Photos of the flowers, show that the petals of E. capitatum have rounded ends while petals of E. asperum tend to narrow slightly distally. These specimens have yellow flowers and my photos show generally rounded petals.
