Locality: United States, Colorado, Larimer, County: LARIMER; State: COLORADO. YMCA of the Rockies, Estes Park, Larimer County, Colorado. From Ypsilon Lodge main parking lot, turn right onto Mountainside Dr. At stop sign turn left onto Association Dr. then right onto Mesa Dr. ~300 m up Mesa Dr. turn left onto foot path/elk trail.

Habitat: Tree found in open, dry, mixed juniper-pine scrub habitat; intermingled with Lodgepole Pine and Ponderosa Pine, spruce (Picea spp.) and sagebrush (Artemisia spp.).
Associated Species: Pinus ponderosa, Pinus contorta, Artemisia spp.
Description: Small tree approximately 3 m tall; waxy blue berry-like cones (approx. 7 mm in diameter); small scale-like leaves (approx. 1.5 mm long) in opposite arrangement.
