Prairie fen with sedge meadow zone common throughout, wooded fen with many tamaracks (Larix laricina); lots of Frangula alnus. Very long, narrow fen. Split by the headwaters of the Grand River. East side owned by The Nature Conservancy, west side mostly privately owned. Grand River is too deep/silty to cross without use of footbridges. Many zones in fen. Periodic shurbby zones; invasives; Phalaris arundinacea common. Inundated boggy area with many shrubs/small trees including Toxicodendron vernix, Larix laricina, Dasiphora fruticosa, Betula pumila, Cornus sericea, and Salix candida. Significant amount of Typha latifolia in area; other species include Asclepias incarnata, Boehmeria cylindrica, Carex aquatilis.
