Open sagebrush community on gravelly flat-lying to gently sloping terrain E of US 40 and reservoir; w/ Artemisia cf. nova, Penstemon caespitosus, Phlox hoodii, A. purshii, Castilleja flava, Boechera perennans, Townsendia exscapa. Cretaceous Pierre shale.

A. diversifolius Gray var. campestris (Nuttall) Dorn. 7.5' Hinman Reservoir quad, NAD27. Forming large clumps in diffusely branched, wiry stems; flowers whitish w/pale purple tipped keel; abundant and widespread in sagebrush.
