In partial shade of burned but living trees at edge of large old clearing in loblolly pine - post oak forest on deep, moderately well drained, neutral to slightly acid fine sand (Patilo Series, Grossarenic Paleustalfs) on nearly level to gently sloping upland underlain by Carrizo Sand. Area lightly burned during Bastrop Complex Wildfire of September 2011. Vegetation in clearing visually dominated by Oenothera laciniata, Phlox drummondii, Tradescantia subacaulis and Nuttallanthus texanus. Other associates included Argemone sp., Aristolochia erecta, Chaetopappa asteroides, Cnidoscolus texanus, Descurainia pinnata, Evax candida, Gamochaeta purpurea, Hymenopappus artemisiifolius, Hypochaeris glabra, Monarda sp., Oenothera sp. (30118), Opuntia sp., Plantago sp., Senecio ampullaceus, Stillingia sylvatica, Triodanis sp., Vicia ludoviciana.
