In wet clay along mostly unshaded margin of stock tank on Las Estrellas Preserve, on gentle slope underlain by mudstones and claystones of the Catahoula and Frio formations (undivided). Associates included Aster subulatus, Cynodon dactylon, Cyperus elegans, Eleocharis palustris, Pluchea odorata, Polygonum hispidum, Salix nigra, Typha domingensis.
