Habitat: Riparian Populus angustifolia - Betula occidentalis corridor; associates include Juniperus scopulorum, Salix spp., Alnus incana ssp. tenuifolia, Descurainia sophia, Lapula redowskii, Juncus arcticus, Alyssum desertorum, Equisetum laevigatum; rhizomatous; perigynia immature; common in disturbed areas on floodplain.
Substrate: Quaternary terrace deposits derived from surrounding Precambrian granite hills and Tertiary intrusive volcanic rock
